Luxottica Enterprise Agreement: What You Need to Know

Luxottica Group is a leader in the eyewear industry, controlling over 80% of the world’s major eyewear brands. They have a reputation for delivering high-quality products, innovative designs, and excellent customer service. However, their success is not only attributed to their products but also their employees.

In 2019, Luxottica renewed their enterprise agreement, which covers the wages, working conditions, and rights of their Australian employees. This agreement is a legally binding contract between the company and its employees, outlining the rules for employment, including hours of work, leave entitlements, and dispute resolution procedures.

The agreement, which was negotiated with the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees` Association (SDA), covers approximately 3,000 Luxottica retail staff across Australia. Here are some of the key points of the agreement:

Wages

The agreement provides for annual wage increases of 2.5%, in addition to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) adjustment. The minimum wage for full-time employees is $748.80 per week, with part-time employees paid pro-rata.

Hours of work

Full-time employees work 38 hours per week, with a rostered day off (RDO) every four weeks. Part-time employees’ hours are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

Leave entitlements

Employees are entitled to four weeks of annual leave, and five days of sick leave per year. They also receive two days of compassionate leave, three days of bereavement leave, and up to 52 weeks of unpaid parental leave.

Dispute resolution

The agreement includes a dispute resolution procedure that involves discussion and mediation between employees and management, with the involvement of the SDA if necessary. If the dispute is not resolved, it may proceed to arbitration.

Flexible working arrangements

Employees have the right to request flexible working arrangements, such as part-time work, job sharing, or working from home, to accommodate their personal circumstances.

The Luxottica enterprise agreement demonstrates their commitment to providing their employees with fair and reasonable working conditions. The agreement also ensures that they comply with Australian employment law, including the Fair Work Act 2009.

In conclusion, the Luxottica enterprise agreement is a significant step in protecting the rights of their Australian employees. It provides them with fair wages, reasonable working hours, leave entitlements, and dispute resolution procedures. This agreement is proof of Luxottica’s commitment to their employees, and they continue to be leaders in their industry.
